My first real post will show my knitting projects from the last few years.

In January 2010, I finished this scarf for Olga (as can be seen by the pocked!). The only interesting thing about the scarf other than the boxy/plaid pattern (one of my favorites when knitting scarves) is the pocket which I knitted separately (see left) and then sewed onto the scarf. When I was visiting Olga in Philly to give it to her, she showed me a scarf I made her possibly in 2007:

The funny thing is that I have no recollection of making this scarf but seeing as it's the same exact material, it has my stitching (crocheted hat, knitted scarf) and a tell-tale pom-pom and fringe (exactly like the new scarf above...oops!), I know I did make it. I wish I had some kind of novel knitting amnesia but I think this was just extreme sleep deprivation for those four years that were college.
When this picture was taken he had no idea it was going to end up on a blog someday!
Slight jumping gears, a project that took me a year and a half complete (finished January 2011), is this DNA scarf modeled here by Nate. A few of my classmates and I all made them, and I think I finished a year after all of them. Oh well. I think it turned out nice. The pattern is free online here. It is not too complicated but involves some cable stitching and some time.
The pattern would be much easier to see if the yarn was not so dark.
I usually crochet hats, but this past winter, I decided to knit one. I finished this over two weekends in February 2012. I used this free pattern recommended by Paul, and it was my first time using circular needles. I had to adjust my knitting style when knitting on circular needles so that was an interesting experience. I like how it turned out but I should have made it a bit smaller since it has since stretched a little bit as the yarn loosened up. I really enjoyed the color of the yarn, though.
As you can see, I seem to average about a knitting project a year, and I seem to mostly knit in the winters, which I guess makes sense. I do not have any knitting project ongoing at the moment, but once it gets colder out, I am sure I'll pick something new up!
